Erica was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She began creating art at a very young age and enjoyed drawing birds and flowers. During high school, Erica’s talent was acknowledged and she was awarded scholarships to take classes at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. Following high school, she obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts and moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. City life was exciting yet frantic, and after a few hectic years Erica was ready for a change. She moved to rural Humboldt County, where she knew she would have the lack of distractions that would enable her to focus on her artwork. She was fortunate to study oil painting with Michael Hayes, a very talented artist living in Eureka. Michael served as Erica’s mentor, and she is forever grateful for his teachings and wisdom. Erica found her medium – she loves working with oils.
Recently, Erica graduated from an online masters’ program with Academy of Art San Francisco which has enabled her to further grow as an artist. She enjoys painting still life arrangements as they enable her to create artwork from life. Erica paints portraits and pet portraits. She enjoys drawing and painting plein aire. She teaches oil painting classes in her studio. She participates in her local Sunday painters group in various rural Humboldt County locations. She currently exhibits at the Trinidad Art Gallery and the Redwood Art Association. She is also the Vice President and Newsletter in Chief of the Redwood Art Association and a member of the Humboldt Arts Council. She was recently awarded “Best of Show” at the Redwood Art Association’s 2018 Spring Exhibition. Art is her life, and she loves to share her work with others.
